Starting Over and Finding Opportunity
Ahmed's Journey Into DevOps in America
When Ahmed Hassan moved to the United States, he faced a challenge many immigrants understand well: starting over professionally.
"In my home country, I already had experience," he explained. "But after moving here, it felt like I was beginning from zero."
Searching for a path forward, he enrolled in the DevOps program at SkyStates.
Finding Support During a Difficult Transition
"The support for international students really stood out to me," Ahmed said.
He especially appreciated the recruiter communication coaching.
"They taught me how to explain my experience confidently during interviews."
The program also helped him build a portfolio filled with cloud deployment projects and automation systems.
"That portfolio became proof that I had real skills."
Rebuilding Confidence Along the Way
Through networking sessions, mentorship, and interview preparation, Ahmed slowly rebuilt his confidence.
"The environment constantly pushed me to believe in myself again."
Today, Ahmed works as a junior DevOps engineer for a healthcare technology company.
"For immigrants, rebuilding your career can feel overwhelming," he said. "Having the right guidance changes everything."
